High carbon graphite

SKU: 0002

High carbon graphite is a type of graphite that has been temperature treated at a temperature below 1200°C, a process known as carbonization. After carbonization, there is still no continuous graphite structure; the bodies are of high strength and hardness.

  • Product Info

Graphite, as a nonmetal mineral substance, exhibits the following physical and chemical properties: high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, erosion resistance, heat resistance, shake resistance, high strength, high flexibility, high self-lubrication, and high heat and electricity conductivity. In the current high technology industry, graphite products manufactured by Tianhe find applications in various sectors, including metallurgy, machinery, electronics, batteries, chemical industry, light industry, military, national defense, astronavigation, and fire resistance.

  • Application

Due to its unique properties, graphite finds widespread applications in various fields, including metallurgy, machinery, petroleum, chemical industry, nuclear industry, and defense. Its primary uses are as follows:

    1. Refractory Materials: In the smelting industry, graphite is used to manufacture graphite crucibles, as protective agents for steel ingots, and as lining materials for smelting furnaces (such as magnesia-carbon bricks).

    2. Conductive Materials: The electrical industry widely employs graphite as electrodes, brushes, rods, carbon tubes, and coatings for cathode-ray tubes in televisions.

    3. Wear-Resistant Materials and Lubricants: In many mechanical devices, graphite serves as wear-resistant and lubricating materials. It can slide at speeds of up to 100 m/s within a temperature range of -200°C to 2000°C, often without the need for additional lubrication.

    4. Sealing Materials: Flexible graphite is used for piston rings, gaskets, and seals in centrifugal pumps, water turbines, steam turbines, and equipment handling corrosive media.

    5. Corrosion-Resistant Materials: Graphite vessels, pipes, and equipment are resistant to various corrosive gases and liquids. They are widely used in petroleum, chemical, and wet metallurgical industries.

    6. Thermal Insulation, High-Temperature, and Radiation Shielding Materials: Graphite serves as a neutron moderator in nuclear reactors and finds applications in rocket nozzles, missile nose cones, aerospace components, insulation materials, and radiation shielding.

Furthermore, after further processing, flake graphite can be used to produce high-tech products such as colloidal graphite, compacted graphite materials, composite materials, graphite products, and anti-friction additives. These materials play a crucial role as nonmetallic mineral resources across various industrial sectors.
