Introduction 

Graphite molds have several applications in plating and casting processes due to their unique properties.

A wide variety of alloys are fabricated using continuous casting in graphite molds.

3. Durability: Graphite molds are not as durable as steel molds. They degrade more quickly overtime with repeated use. Therefore in high production runs, they must be more frequently replaced than steel molds.

4. Cost: Graphite molds are generally cheaper than steel molds. However, keep in mind the lifespan of each type of mold and production volume. If you have a larger production run, investing in one steel mold may be more cost-effective than investing in multiple graphite molds.

5. High Melting Point: Graphite has a high melting point, making it ideal for pouring high-temperature metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and more. The ability to withstand extreme temperatures ensures that the mold remains intact and retains its shape during the pouring process, resulting in precise and accurate metal casts.

6. Continuous Casting: In continuous casting, liquid metal is continuously poured into a bottomless cooled die. Inside the die, the strand shell solidifies, which is then drawn off downwards, sideways or upwards, usually with the core still liquid.
